Xmas in a Victorian shopping arcade

Craven Court Victorian shopping arcade

Craven Court

Craven Court, Skipton

Xmas time in this stunning Victorian shopping arcade should definitely be on your list of places to visit if you are ever in Skipton. You’ll find this amazing place situated right in the heart of Skipton, just off the High Street.

Victorian heritage

The shopping arcade was developed from an original Skipton building which included a theatre and dates back to the 16th Century. The development of this enclosed shopping centre was completed in 1988 and is based on a Victorian theme. With its wrought iron work and glass roof it is a spectacular shopping experience!

It’s spread over two levels with a lovely range of shops to check out including, but not limited to lovely gift shops, the famous Cake ‘Ole, a Laura Ashley home store, a mini garden centre, an amazing sweet shop – just to name a few. You’ll also find the lovely Terrace Tearooms upstairs where you can sit inside or out on the terrace which overlooks the shops and courtyard below but is still under cover of the main building.

This is a fabulous place to visit in Skipton, especially at this time of year where you can get in out of the cold, enjoy the most stunning architecture and the particularly magical experience of all the Christmas lights and decorations.

Have you been shopping at Xmas time in this Victorian shopping arcade? If so, what’s your favourite shop to visit? If not, are you tempted to go along and check it out?
