The World Famous Tan Hill Inn

Long Causeway, Richmond, DL11 6ED

The World Famous Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in the British Isles, standing at 1,732 feet (528m) is well worth a visit just to say you’ve been there! Situated in Swaledale, just near Keld, the Inn is a warm meeting place known by people all over the world.

Sitting on a lonely hill high up in the Yorkshire Dales it has beautiful exposed beams, a stone-flagged floor and a very welcoming fire.

Staying at The Tan Hill Inn

Walkers, cyclists and campers come here from all over the world to simply visit or even to stay overnight. YES! They do offer a B&B service but you can simply sleep in your camper van or even set up your tent and camp outside. Grab a meal and a pint in their restaurant and soak up the atmosphere. They’re dog friendly too so your pet is also welcome. Sometimes they even put on some entertainment. I’ve read great reviews about New Years Eve!

Popularity of the Tan Hill Inn

It gets extremely busy here as it’s so very popular. I didn’t take pics of all the camper-vans that we saw when we visited this historic inn but there were plenty let me tell you! I did however take some pics of people who were camping as you can see. What a place to stay, especially overnight sleeping under the stars!

All set against the back-drop of the most stunning scenery to be found in the UK. Everyone is very welcome at The World Famous Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in the British Isles! It’s a fantastic place with a great vibe. A fabulous place to visit and the views are to die for! What are you waiting for?

Have you been here? Have you stayed overnight, either in the B&B or camping outside under the stars? Let us know in the comments below.
