Lights, Camera, Action!!!Grassington, Skipton, Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire
For the filming of the new TV series ‘All Creatures Great & Small’, Grassington was this weekend transformed into 1930’s England! The famous TV show is a British television series based on the books of the British veterinary surgeon Alf Wight. He wrote his books under the pseudonym James Herriot who is the lead character in the TV series itself.
Filming All Creatures Great & Small
The series was originally broadcast many years ago in the 80’s and was extremely popular with everyone. There were many who mourned its passing when it ended but were thrilled to see it returning. All were looking forward to watching the show once more when it returns to our TV screens later next year.
A Step back in Time
The film crew certainly went to a lot of trouble to create a wonderful transformation of the shops right there in the village. Many of them were used for filming and made you wish it was like that all the time because it looked simply amazing! It really made you feel as though you had travelled back in time to a past long gone but certainly not forgotten. Grassington was also a fabulous choice for the filming of this very popular TV series. The buildings suited precisely what they were looking for!
A steady drizzle continued for most of the day but apparently that’s exactly what the filmmakers were hoping for. It certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of any of the crowds watching. It was quite simply exciting because we had never seen anything like it before. A fantastic weekend was had by all who were there to watch the filming of a great British TV series period drama.
